The Wager by Rachel Van Dyken

"

honestly cannot remember the last time I laughed and giggled so much while reading a book.

With Kasey and Travis' wedding drawing closer, Jake and Char (best man and maid of honour) are forced together to get things done for the wedding.

I can't even get along with her, let alone plan something. Do you want her death on your hands?

A year previously, they slept together and Jake left her with a thank you note! *tut tut Jake*

There's a lot of love I feel for this book. I loved Jake and Char as a couple. I felt like everyone was telling poor Jake he wasn't good enough for her.

I loved the drugstore scene and the flight scene. I loved getting more Kasey and Travis time. I bloody lovedGrandma and her hilarious comments.

How lovely! It seems your whore has arrived

Overall, this was cute, some parts were over-the-top, it was predictable, sweet and hilarious. An all round feel good book x

Willing Captive by Bella Aurora

Ekkk!!! I'm so in love with Bella Aurora. This is the third book of hers that I love.

Lily is barely existing and stays in the comfort of her own home. That is until she meets herkidnapper, Nox. However, he isn't what she thinks (or even I thought) he is.

I swear this guy must've been conceived through backdoor action. There's no way being that much of an asshole is natural.

Lily was sarcastic and funny. One problem I had with her was she did act much younger than her 22 years.

Man did I swoon over Nox. He was a bit mysterious to begin with but those are the type I love. The relationship that developed between the two of them was nicely done.

You're not for the background...you deserve centre stage

I adore this book so freaking much!! I giggled, I swooned, my heart actually stopped. and it is aCOMPLETE standalone.

If your looking for a dark, disturbing and twisted book, I'm afraid this isn't the one. This was funny, entertaining and heart fluttering x

The Road to You by Marilyn Brant

"

It's no surprise that I love readingromance books. This particular one fell more into the mystery genre. I would say it is 90% mystery and 10% romance.

Aurora finds her brother's journal. With the help of Donovan they head on aroad trip to piece together what happened to their brothers.

Set in 1978, you can imagine the lack of technology available. There was no mobiles and hence no google so it wasn't going to be easy.

So our brothers were involved with something...

I found the story a bit slow moving for my personal liking but it is one of those books where you have to know what happened.

It was a 3 star book for me until the last 30%. I think there was potential for more romance, in which case I would have enjoyed it more. The few romance moments were lovely.

I'm putting my heart in your hands tonight...Be gentle with it

Overall if you enjoy mystery type book with a dash of romance, give it a go x

Cover Reveal: Just Once by Julianne Keyes

COVER REVEAL

by Julianna Keyes and Omnific Publishing

Adult Contemporary Romance

Releasing October 29, 2013

Kate Burke is done making bad decisions. Thirty years old and belatedly determined to grow up, the successful travel writer and one-time party girl returns to work at the remote Ponderosa Pines Ranch to reassess her life.

Although her kitchen/cabin staff is lacking and the workload never relents, Kate’s main challenge is Shane Maddox, the ruggedly handsome and doggedly stubborn ranch foreman. Instantly at odds, they battle over everything from ceiling fans to bothersome bats—studiously ignoring the sparks they generate with each confrontation.

They can’t explain their explosive physical chemistry, but after a few frustrated weeks they can’t deny it either. Their solution? Just once. They’ll get past their inconvenient lust and move on.

Kate’s been trying to think with her head instead of her hormones, but is this just another bad decision in a lifetime of careless choices? Has she really changed at all?

Set in the striking and serene hills of southern Colorado, Julianna Keyes’ debut novel offers a sizzling and satisfying tale of unexpected chemistry and the power of second chances. Her characters will get under your skin and into your heart. Just once may not be enough for you either.

About the Author

The Dark Light of Day by T.M Frazier

"
I've been looking for a book a bitdifferent and this is exactly what I got.

When Abby's only family dies, she is left with no one. Of course someone comes to her rescue, in the form of Jake, who has his own fair share of secrets.

You've read it all before, 2 broken people... insta love... finding each other.

Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light

But then...!!!

I'm not gonna lie, there was a point (at 58% to be exact) that I found it hard to stomach. I hate reading about this. But I couldn't not read on. I felt like punching someone...

...repeatedly!!!

Despite the shocking 'oh no' moments there was plenty of fun time between Jake and Abby.

I really don't care what's under your clothes...Scratch that, I'd be pretty pissed if it turns out you have a dick

I loved the writing style and maybe it could have been a bit longer with the epilogue. The warning in the blurb sums up the book pretty well:

Warning: contains disturbing situations, graphic violence, sex, strong language, drug use, and all types of abuse."

Playing with her Heart by Lauren Blakely

"
Aw this was a lovely treat!!! It makes a change that the backdrop of the story is about a broadway show.

Davis is the director and having been burned in the past he promised himself he won't fall for an actress again.

The first rule of directing is you don't fall for an actress

Then we have Jill who is playing the understudy for the show who has been traumatised in the past.

Wow I loved the sexual tension between these two and there was the right amount of saucy scenes.

This is one of those books where it is all about the romance!! I loved how their relationship developed. I thought they complimented each other perfectly.

I am so completely in love with you that I can't imagine ever being without you

There isn't anything I didn't like about this book. It was sexy, romantic, simple yet engaging storyline... I loved it!!! I will definitely go back and check out the rest of the series x

For the Summer by Shey Stahl

"This is one of those books that gave you a warm fuzzy feeling.

It starts off with Sophie's best friend, Ivey about to get married. She reunites with Ivey's brother, Benson. It then looks back to when she was 13 through the eyes of her journal.

he was just Benson William Cole - the boy who stole my heart at thirteen

I thought it was a very unique way to tell the story and it was like she was talking to Benson. Benson...!!! I loved him but more than once I thought 'Tell me you didn't!!!' And his reason at the end... Say 'what?!!' *shakes head*

I'm an asshole. Took you long enough to figure it out

Sophie was very relatable and I wanted to know how they fell in love and what went wrong. I don't think anyone forgets their first love. At times I hurt for Sophie and how Benson was stringing her along.

What I loved was it was about 2 kids falling in love, it didn't happen overnight and there was no abused characters. The characters and storyline was completely believable.

I would recommend this if your looking for a cute first love type book. Another fab book by Shey Stahl x"

Hell's Knights by Bella Jewel

"Well for a biker book I quite enjoyed this one.

Addison had a shitty upbringing and her history is one of the worse I've read about for a heroine. When her mom (if you can call her that) overdoses she runs to find her father who is president of Hell's knight.

One thing that annoyed me, I get Addison don't like to be controlled, but couldn't she just do as she was told for just once, considering she has a mad man after her?!

what the fuck are you doin' walkin' around at night on your own?

Cade was a dirty talking Alpha that ticked all the right boxes *hmmm* And the sex scenes were steamy hot!

Sugar, shut the fuck up. You know you're my girl now

I felt the couple got together pretty quickly but overall a short biker book. I will definitely be reading Spikes book x"

Last Hour by Charles Sheehan-Miles

"That's it!!! I'm reading spoilers from now on. This hurt... And it hurt a lot!!!Strangely there was no tears.

The third Thompson sister book and we meet Carrie and Ray. The story is very cleverly done flicking from present (where they was just involved in a car accident) to past (where they met and the troubles that came their way.)

I loved the dual POVs but maybe I was the only one but I found present day Ray POV very strange, as if I was reading a part-paranormal type book. He was a real sweetheart,

...that feeling that I can touch the sky? That's exactly how you make me feel.

Aw!!!

Loved that all the previous couples featured in this book too and I am excited for Andrea's story.

[spoilers removed] But I know this book will stay with me for a very long time. A heartbreaking and emotional book X"

Cravings constellations by Nicole Jacquelyn

"I enjoyed this. With the exception of KA I've never really enjoyed biker books.

Brenna (daughter of the Vice President of Aces), and Dragon (a member of the Aces) had a one night stand. She returns 5 years later running from her abusive husband.

I just didn't like Brenna. Her constant crying, and her silly excuse for running away and keeping such a big secret from Dragon. As for Dragon, I love an Alpha hero...

I know, baby. I know you needed control. But with me, you aren’t gonna get it

... And he is as alpha as they get until a certain point where I thought 'that is not right!' I don't care what the circumstances were, I cannot accept his behaviour.

So a quick enjoyable biker book that had me gripped. I will definitely be reading the next x"

Whispers in the Dark by K I Lynn

Oh no i didnt know this was so short. I don't know whether to give this a 1 star for the length (it took me 40 mins to read!) and lack of story or a 5 star for the writing.

I have no idea if this is meant to be a series of novellas or not but if this was a full length novel I could see myself loving these characters x

Covet by Tracey Garvis-Graves

"DNF at 50% (I really tried!)

I'm so sad I couldn't get into this :(

Claire and Chris are married. But life gets in their way with the stress of unemployment and money worries. Which leads to Chris' depression and the couple drifting apart.

I miss my kids and my house...I miss Claire

Then, Daniel enters the picture and forms a friendship with Claire. I couldn't connect with Claire but I think a lot of women can relate to her situation of going through a rough patch in a marriage.

I made it halfway and thought 'is anything exciting going to happen?'After looking at a few other reviews, I got my answer.

Had I finish the book, it would have probably be a 3 star. So, it wasn't for me. But if you like a realistic portrayal of a wife/mother dealing with a marriage going wrong, you should give this one a go x

Cover Reveal: Playing with her heart by Lauren Blakely

ABOUT PLAYING WITH HER HEART:

From the NYT & USA Today Bestselling romance author, a sizzling and addictive story of a woman with a broken past and the man who can't fight his attraction to her...

Twenty-three year old rising theater star Jill McCormick has built a life out of pretending. Pretending she's happy, pretending she's not haunted by the dark secret that shattered her world six years ago. But then she comes face to face with her new director - sexy, sophisticated, possessive, all-alpha Davis Milo. He tries to resist the actress he's cast, but the attraction between them is too powerful, and soon their private rehearsals spiral into new, forbidden territory. The passionate connection, the intense chemistry is undeniable, and it hits them anywhere, and everywhere - in the theater, on the piano, in the limo, in the restaurant...But the tragedy in Jill's past stands between them. Davis has walls too, so they can either face their fears together, or risk the deepest love and greatest passion either has ever felt...

EXCERPT:

From Lauren: "This short excerpt is from chapter 12 when Davis unclips Jill's hair, and it served as the inspiration for the new look for the cover. To me, this short moment says so much about their relationship."

He leans into the car, reaches for the seat belt, and pulls it across my chest, buckling me in. He’s inches from me, and he smells cold like the night air. But he also smells the way a man should at the end of the day: a little bit of sweat, a lot of work, and all raw power. He brings one hand behind my head and unclips my hair, letting it fall over his fingers. I tremble from his touch as a shiver runs down my spine. “I like your hair up and I like your hair down,” he whispers to me, breaking down all my resistance in an instant.

I can see this playing out if I do nothing—I’ll spend it rewinding this moment and putting it on repeat all night long. But I don’t want to go home with only a memory to feed my body, and I can’t stand the thought of this night ending too soon.

I make my choice. There’s only one choice. “Do you want to share?” I ask, praying he lives in the same direction.

“You’re downtown, right?”

I nod.

“Me too.”

Give me Love by Kate McCarthy

"

I remember reading this a few months back and its one of those books that has still stayed with me since.

After several disastrous relationships, Evie has decided to go for safe and boring type guys. And then she meets Jared, her best friends brother.

"Because one day you'll belong to me, Evie, and I'll know everything about you."

*swoon*

I loved this couple. Their texting and banter was hilarious. I loved all the characters and I would love a BFF like Mac. There was also a suspense part to the story too with Jared's enemy.

This book has a KA Rock Chicks feel to it so if you like the suspense, humour, alpha hero and fab romance... I would give this a go. X

"

Give me Strength by Kate McCarthy

"Love love loved!!! Now, we follow Travis and Quinn's story where they had a one night stand and yes... of course their paths cross again.

I loved everything. From Mac's hilarious dialogues...

Mac: alright Quinn. Show me your boobs

...to Jared's weird food obsession, even Henry and Frog's flirty banter. The group dynamic was fun and I was chuckling away.

But Travis *sigh* there just wasn't enough of him.

you're my dessert, sweetheart

Have I given you enough space yet?

I am excited to get to Grace and Casey's book. But hey, when do we get our Mac book!!!?

The only downside was I felt like I was missing a few scenes and of coursemore sexy time would have been the icing on the cake.

A perfect combination of action, twists, great banter, amazing characters and a lovely romance. X"

Losing Control by Nina Croft

"

This book kept me grinning throughout the whole book :)

A bit different to the norm as it is the guy in love with the girl and the girl being completely clueless! Don't get me wrong, Jake was no pushover

Are you turning into some sort of caveman?

I do normally get annoyed with this type of heroine taking her time to get her head sorted but the sexy time and playful relationship they have more than made up for it.

That's it? You want sex?...And you didn't think to come to me?

One negative...I felt like I was missing a part of their story when the story starts off with them already being friends.

A quick feel good predictable smut book.
"

Plush by Kate Crash

"

I don't even know what to say except this is one screwed up book. It follows Hayley through the years from her messed up family life with her brother/best friend, Jake to their rising stardom with their band Plush.

even death won't do us part
Jack & Hayley 4ever

There were 3 male characters in this but I felt like none of them really stood out as the main one.

Jack...Felt right, but it was wrong.
Carter... My heart broke for him.
Enzo... He was a mystery.

If you want the shock factor, I suggest you don't read the blurb as I felt like it gave the whole story away.

Note: Be warned there are scenes of hard drug use, cheating, abuse, F/F action, MMF too"

Consumed by Skyla Madi

"

I started off not sure about this book. Olivia breaks up with her boyfriend of 6 years (4 of which she knew he been cheating on her!) And then BAM the insta love... Hmm!

But I'm glad I carried on because the relationship between Seth, a MMA fighter, and Olivia was nicely done.

Remember that I don't do girlfriends and I don't do feelings. If you get hurt, it's on you

I loved the sexy time and the fight scenes. I thought Olivia will be one of those heroines (how wrong was I!) Seth was a mystery but of course he has a sweet side,

“I’d fly to the moon and back to comfort you when you need it.”

I normally love side characters, but Ididn't like Selena (the BFF). A great attempt for a debut

but there was times my attention wondered off.

If you like an MMA fighter with good girl meets bad boy cute/sexy no excessive drama type book... This would be the one. Enjoy! X

"

Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout

"I wasn't expecting this. There was never a dull moment in the book and Daemon is wow... I can't believe I've missed out on him.

"In your dreams, Kitten." He smirked. "Oh wait, I'm already starring in those, aren't I?"

Katy just moved to the area with her mum and strikes up a friendship with her neighbour, Dee. She forms a love/hate relationship with Dee's brother, Daemon.

love this type of hero, he was kind of a jerk to Katy, but also quite sarcastic and cheeky

We could always have sex. I hear that uses up a lot of energy

One of my all time favourite storylines is love/hate romance and this book delivers just that. Although there was a point where I thought 'just get it on!'

I know I know! There's still a few more books of them. I'm impatient :)

I will definitely be catching up with this couple in the next book and with the way things are going, they may well end up being one of my fav couples.

Loved it!!!"

The Other C-word by M.K Schiller

"

So... I had a bit of a hard time getting into this at the beginning. Rick is brought into Marley's company to help fix it. And their meeting was no ordinary one,

R U RANDY

I really liked Rick. He was flirty, sweet, protective, caveman... I could go on. The family was crazy and there was plenty of chuckle-worthy moments. Iloved the back and forth banter between Rick and Marley.

Rick are we having a orgy? You've ordered a ton of food

But Marley... I just didn't get her. She was kinda frustrating at times,

That's only because you make it complicated

I wish she just listen to people around her. By 80% I warmed to her and completely understood where she was coming from and it hurt my heart a little.

Ends at 94% and what a lovely ending it was!!!

Cage by Harper Sloan

"I flipping love this book!!!

I connected with both Melissa and Cage from the very beginning. They met at sort of a love at first sight or in Cage's opinion:

Hard on at first sight

Their connection was hot. As their story progressed, you can feel the relationship growing and how they are connected in more than just body parts.

There was too many things I loved about this book. Loved how the guys talk among each other (ah Axel!)

Never thought I would need a break, but my dick is tired man

Loved how the story played out, LOVED Alpha, protective Cage. (The Perfect Book Boyfriend!) and Loved the kids (I know there will be more *winks*)

When I get big like you, will my wiener be big too?

When I read Axel, I couldn't help but compare it with a KA book, but with Cage, not once did I make the comparison.

Anyway this was an amazing sequel and it surpassed any high expectations I had. Harper Sloan is one mean author and this book gave us snippets of Beck and Maddox's book and I cannot wait!!!

I want Maddox!!!"

Dissolution by K. I Lynn

"

Oh my Nathan!!

I'm so glad this wasn't a full book because this felt just right. We got an insight into Nathan's mind and the conflicting feelings he feels for Lila.

My chest burned, the knife twisting deeper

If possible I love Nathan even more xxx
"

Reckless by Skye Jordan

"

Great banter + steamy sexy time + great characters = A fab book!

Jax a former hollywood actor receives an anonymous text message from dress fashion designer, Lexi. And so the flirting begins...

Jax: Hot. Cup size?
Lexi: Penis size?

Loved the chemistry with the texting and I could probably quote most of their text messages.

And wow, the hotness when they finally get together. The author sure knows how to build up sex scenes.

I would recommend this is you like a Simple Sweet and Sexy romance.

I want to keep you more than I want to breathe

BUT I felt their happy ending was cut short.
"

Down for the Count by Christine Bell

"

Had I known the main character was a fighter I would have read this much sooner.

Lacey catches her groom cheating on her on the wedding day.

Unless, of course, she's lost something inside her vagina and you were gallant enough to fish it out of her. With your penis.

She ends up spending her pre booked honeymoon with her best friends brother, Galen.

This was a quick, sexy and predictable book. If your a hopeless romantic like myself, this book is the perfect escape.

P.S I love fighters xxx
"

Infraction by K. I Lynn

"Aw that ending!!!

I love how their relationship has moved on and although the sex is still hot, they have a connection deeper than just being physical.

I want to live again...with you. You've changed my world

I am still in love with my Nathan.

do you really think I wouldn't want to fuck my little whore?

I know some people didn't like his 'whore' and 'slut' remarks but I kinda missed it and was waiting for the dirty talker to be back.

I thought the first half of the book was a bit slow moving but the second half did make up for it. Excited for book 3 now.

Breach by K. I Lynn

"

Wow what a book!

Two messed up people. Lila, from a broken childhood and suffers insomnia.

"You're damaged and hiding behind a fucking mask"

Nathan, the controlling alpha dirty talker that has scars covering his body.

What happens when these two are thrown together at work? Sex, sex and more sex.

I LOVE the writing, I LOVE Lila (this is how broken heroines should be written), I LOVE that I want more and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Nathan. He is the exactly the type I love *dreamy sigh*

"You know, you don't have to climb all over to get my attention. Lifting your skirt works very well"

A great book if your looking for a steamy book with great characters x

My Unexpected Forever by Heidi McLaughlin

"

I honestly don't know why I torture myself like this. This book got me so mad and yup you guessed it, the heroine.

Katelyn is a widow raising twin girls, it was never going to be easy for her.

She struggled with her feelings for Harrison. I could just strangle her just so that she could just wake up.

"There is no type when it comes to love Katelyn"

It wasn't a question of will they or won't they? More of a when are they going to get together? And when will Katelyn ruin it?

Aside from the heroine there were things I loved about the book. I loved all the flashbacks and how it added to knowing these two characters better. I loved the happy ending and of course I loved Harrison.

One last thought, I think the kids need a series of their own!

Be My Baby Lite by Andrea Smith

"The second book left me with a load of questions unanswered. How will Trey and Tylar's move on from this? Will they finally unravel all of Tylar's past?

I'm sorry, baby. I love you

As much as I love Gina, I loved that the focus of the book was back to Trey and Tylar.

I admit, sequels scare the life out of me but I think their relationship was too perfect before and they needed this wake up call.

The night we met I knew I needed you so; and if I had the chance I'd never let you go

This book had my emotions flying everywhere. A few times in the first half of the book I was screaming 'no no and no!!!' I sure wasn't comfortable reading some parts but I couldn't not read on.

My favourite part of any book is without a doubt the epilogue. Suffice to say I was happily surprised by this bonus one.

A great trilogy. Full of highs and lows, drama, revelations, angst, heartbreak, sex and of course cute Preston moments.

ARC gifted by the Author"

Baby Love Lite by Andrea Smith

"No!

It can't end like that!! There's still a lot of questions swirling around in my brain.

Second part in Trey and Tylar's lives and it certainly didn't lack in drama and revelations.

Obviously I need to get some answers for both of us

There was a lot of ups and downs but through it all I loved how they communicated as a couple (well, most of the time!)

Tylar, can we get a smaller ham next year?

Gina, what were you thinking? I loved her in the first book but I think in this book she caused a lot of problems for everyone.

I'm now worried how their relationship will move on from here.

It all started with a Lima Bean by Kimi Flores

"This is not going to be everyone's cup of tea. It was so sweet, so cute, so mushy and drama free.

Caleb is a single father to Madison, he meets her kindergarden teacher, Abby who has been hurt herself in the past.

Everyone needs love and compassion to thrive

The relationship between the two was a slow moving one and it felt very believable.

My main problem with the book was I felt my attention to the book wandered off a few times and maybe some detail could have been cut down.

Perfect if your looking for a drama free, sex free, sweet romance."

More than This by Jay McLean

"This was my second attempt at reading this book and I'm glad I gave it another chance.

It only took one night to change everything in Mikayla's life but it was also the night she met Jake.

Well, yeah, I'm a guy. We don't need much to enjoy it, any hole's a goal

This poor girl! It broke her but boy could I just knock these two in the head.

We're testing each other. Seeing how far we can take this before something snaps. Most likely my dick

I wished they could have talked it out earlier on than tip toe around each other.

This is my type of book, a bit of angst, a bit steamy, a bit fun with a couple shockers.

Maybe not many people would agree but I really REALLY would love a Megan book. Please?!!
