Axel by Harper Sloan

My thoughts:
This started off really good. What Iz went through with her ex husband, I was expecting it to be hard to read, but it wasn't, and I wanted it to dig into my emotions a bit more. Though I was intrigued and wanted her to find her happy ever after.

Fast forward two years and she reunites with her first love and their misunderstandings that kept them apart. Whenever the hero works for some security job, I will always connect this with KA's rock chick series. And it is quite similar with Axel being very Alpha male, the ending was fairly predictable with the ex husband and there was a lot of hunky hot men in the corp security which will no doubt all have a story of their own.

I wish I felt more for this story but I found myself flicking though pages. I knew how the story was going, how it was going to end up and there was no surprises. A nice read just wish I was in a better frame of mind to read it.

Overall:
Rating: 3 stars
Hero: alpha male
Heroine: abused past
Type: contemporary
Setting: USA
Series: #1 corp security (standalone)
Ending: HEA

Facade by Nyrae Dawn

"Second book in the series...

Another couple, Adrian and Delaney...

Adrian a party boy...

Delaney working through her own guilt...

Both have their own secrets...

My thoughts

My first thoughts was I really liked the first book in the series. This one we meet a new couple, Adrian and Delaney. Adrian changes pretty quickly from a party boy to head over heels for Delaney.

“Your heart beats so strong, I feel it against my chest. You make mine want to catch up, to match the rhythm.”

And then we have Delaney trying to get closure from her father's mistake. Both characters were really likeable.

It was a nice short read and I love this writers writing style and would read more from this author.

Friend zoned by Belle Aurora

"
Tina and Nik work next to each other...

They instantly become friends...

Are they forever friend-zoned...

or do they have feelings for one another??

My thoughts:

This was cute... the two main characters become close friends but at the same time they question whether the other person feels more than just friends, a situation I think we all been through.

“So we can be friends, right?”
Wait, what?
I stare at her, a frown forming at my mouth.
Did I..? Did I just get Friend-zoned?”

I didn't think I see the day when I actually liked the heroine more than the hero. Nik was a right a-hole at the end. I really wished Nik would grow some balls and just go for it.

I would recommend this book if you are looking for a light read with some LOL moments :)

Love Thy Neighbour by Bella Aurora

"

Nat and Asher had a one night stand...

They decide to avoid each other...

Fate has other plans...

Now...

They are neighbours...

My thoughts:

I liked this sequel. Maybe not as much as the first, I think I was missing Tina as the main heroine, she gave the story some LOL moments.

I really liked Asher. I thought he would be more cold and angrier but it didn't come across.

Tina looks up at me with wide eyes. She rushed out, "Ash, honey! I'm so sorry!" Then she rubs what she thinks is my stomach. Only its my cock.
Removing her hands from me, I tell her,
"Tina, I don't think Nik would like you in my bed rubbing my junk.”

A nice story of non-friends become bed buddies become lovers. Ending was so sweet... gave me a tooth ache :p

Dear Rockstar by Emme Rollins

"
Travel back to the 80s...

Remember being young and obsessed with the latest music icon?

Yup... That's Sara...

But she takes it to a new level...

To wanting to uproot her life and education to be closer to him...

Then she meets Dale the new kid...

My thoughts:

I thought the first half of the book was very YA. Then the second half kicked in with a few steamy scenes and a bit of drama. I really liked this book and these two were just too cute together.

Sara was completely obsessed with her idol and I wish she open her eyes and see what's right in front of her.

“I know you. Inside and out, Sara. I know you, and I’ve accepted it all. Every bit of the crazy. And I love you anyway remember?”

I have to say I saw the twists at the end coming but that didn't stop me enjoying it. Fab standalone book!!!

Frigid by J Lynn

"Uh oh

not another man whore and innocent girl NA book...

Except...

They were best friends since they were young...

And now...

They are stuck in a snow storm...

Alone...

My thoughts

I'm so glad for once we had two pretty normal characters i.e. no broken past.

Though, Syd had soo many insecurities and her inner thoughts were too much at times, every little thing she seems to second guess.

“How you’ve always felt?” “I’ve loved you my entire life,” he said, eyes locked on mine. “And I would love you for the rest of my life if you’d let me, Syd.”

I don't see how these two didn't figure it out sooner. It was obvious how they felt towards each other.

“All those times I'd broken her heart, and she was still here.
She was still here.”

Overall

An enjoyable read and would recommend this book for those that like sweet romance with a dash of drama and angst."

Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover

 "
The companion book to Hopeless...

Now we get Holden's story...

My thoughts:

I don't know how Colleen manage to write another book where we get a male POV and turn it into a story we are already familiar with but at the same time refreshing.

I know hopeless quite well so I knew what parts were coming up but that did not stop me from feeling so many emotions from this book.

My heart was racing from the way Colleen writes and I was right there inside Holdens head.

“I don't want her to feel nothing when I kiss her. I want her to feel everything.”

A character we didn't know well in Hopeless is Holden's best friend, Daniel. I couldn't remember if he even featured in the first book but I loved him here and I can guess maybe there's a storyline there with somebody who he had an encounter with.

Overall

I loved Hopeless and now I love Losing Hope aswell. This is still a must read if you already read the first book.

"Evelyn wakes up in Vegas...

Married to rocker, David...

There's a slight problem...

She remembers none of it...

My thoughts

I sometimes find it hard to get into rocker books as they tend to have similar storylines. However, I really enjoyed this one. I felt it wasn't like anything I've read before.

It had some drama, some hot scenes, some angst and some sweet moments. All in all it had a bit of everything which is my favourite type of romance.

“Love isn’t always smooth or straightforward. It can be messy and painful … Doesn’t mean it isn’t still the most incredible thing that can ever happen to you.”

I loved Ev and David's characters and I felt their relationship was pretty realistic for a fictional book.

The plot moved along nicely and I did not want to put it down. I hope the next book will be about Jimmy."

Leo by Mia Sheridan

"

Evie and Leo grew up in foster care...

They fell in love...

When Leo was forced to leave...

He promised he would contact her and come back for her...

He never did...

Years later a friend of Leo's shows up...

My thoughts:

I really enjoyed this one, however there is a big BUT, the twist at the end was just too unbelievable in my opinion.

It was well justified but I just found it too hard to believe.

The writing was engaging, I was not once bored or want to put this book down.

“In my mind, I belonged to Leo, and he belonged to me. Distance would never change that.”

So overall it was a nice light read and of course the hero is swoon worthy.

"

Shine not Burn by Elle Casey

"
My thoughts:

My first Elle Casey book and I loved it. It had all the elements I look for in a good book: likeable heroine, hot hero, good storyline, some funny dialogue/internal thoughts, great writing and of coursesome hot steamy scenes.

Characters

Let me just say I don't think the cover does Mack any justice. This on the other hand...

I did find Andie quite indecisive and wished she just make up her mind. But on the other hand I liked her wit and humour.

“Come on, wife. Come take a little ride with me. Let me show you all the things you'll be missing when you go back East and leave me here with a broken heart.”

Last thoughts

The best thing about this book... It's a standalone!! Yay!!! Give it a go!"

Breaking by Claire Kent

My thoughts:
This is a novella following on from escorted but in Ander's POV. If you've read the first book you would know that Ander use to work as an escort and thereafter fell in love with Lori.

In this novella they go through some communication issues and was a nice short read with some saucy scenes. Enjoyable and would be reading more from Claire Kent.

Overall
Rating: 3 stars
Hero: broken past
Heroine: likeable
Type: contemporary
Setting: apartment
Series: #1.5 Escorted series
Ending: HEA
Recommend: yes but must read Escorted first

Angel by D. H. Sidebottom

My thoughts
A second chance romance. Nate and Liv were lovers and later separated. Twenty years later they bump into each other again. I thought it was all too quick how they practically fall back in love straight away but of course there are things holding Liv back.

This book was a steady 4 stars until the end and something happened that ruin it for me and its not something I want to read. I don't think I will continue on with this series but I know other reviewers have liked it so maybe just not too my liking.

Overall
Rating: 3 stars
Hero: rich guy
Heroine: ok

Rock my World by Michelle A Valentine

My thoughts:

I started this thinking who is Zach and what happened to Riff? I forgot they were the same person. This was a short novella continuing on with Riff and Aubrey, though it wasn't lacking in drama. I can't deny the ending was really far fetched but all the same I love this authors writing style and I will no doubt be reading the rest of the Black Falcon books. A great ending for Riff and Aubrey as well as for Noel and Lanie.

Overall
Rating: 4 stars
Hero: rockstar
Heroine: likeable
Type: contemporary rockstar
Setting: on the road
Series: #2.5 Black Falcon series (standalone)
Ending: HEA
Recommend: yes if you've read the previous 3 books (1 is a novella)

Edible by Ella Frank

My thoughts:
Having loved the first two books in the series, I was eager to get my hands on the third book, Rachel and Cole's book. This was one hot book with a load of chemistry and sex scenes. I would have liked a bit more storyline or drama but the hotness that is Cole makes up for it (le sigh!)

Book 1 is still my favourite but I love this book because it is one of those books that gave me a good feeling from beginning til end. I loved the banter with the whole group and I loved the Cole vs Mason showdown. A perfect epilogue to I assume is the end to this series but I'm sure they will appear as cameos in Logan's spin off. Love this series and will definitely be reading more from Ella Frank!

Overall
Rating: 5 stars
Hero: controlling, bossy, HAWT
Heroine: lonely, abused past

Ending: HEA with epilogue

This man Confessed by Jodi Ellen Malpas

"JESSE'S BACK...

For the finale...

Expect confessions...

Drama...

oh no moments...

And don't forget the various degrees of fucking...

One hot book that I will no doubt be re-reading at some point in the future. Everything and I do mean everything is wrapped up and answered from the previous two books.

If you thought Jesse was controlling before, he takes it to a whole new level in this one.

“You keep my heart beating, baby, but you can also make it fucking stop.”

Last thoughts
Fab trilogy and what an epic epilogue!!!"

Off Limits by Sawyer Bennett

My thoughts:
Having read the first book I wasn't too keen on Ryan. But here we have Nix... Oh my!!! I love reading about broken Heroes and here he is still suffering from PTSD. Nix was an idiot at times with the way he spoke to Emily but that's what I loved about him. Emily was just as likeable, coming from a trust fund baby, she is trying to live her life and not the life her parents want.

I got this as a freebie on Amazon and this turn out to be a little Gem. It did start a bit slow for me but by the end I was on the verge of tears. I am starting to become attached to this series and I will definitely be reading the next. Really liked it.

Overall:
Rating: 4 stars
Hero: suffering PTSD, swoon worthy
Heroine: goes for what she wants
Type: contemporary/New Adult
Setting: college/house
Series: #2 Off series (standalone)
Ending: HEA
Recommend: yes!

The Love Game by Emma Hart

Plot
Set in college, the girls tell Maddie to 'play the player at his own game' and the boys telling Braden that he has to 'make her fall in love with you.' You can predict how the story from then will play out with both Maddie and Braden.

The couple:
Maddie didn't seem to want to go through with the 'play the player' but she does it anyway. I do feel for her for what she been through with her family. She has an innocence about her but at the same time she is very strong character. Braden was just all round sweet protective and caring. I like it when he goes cavemen on Maddie. I quite liked this couple together and their connection grew and grew with each date they went on.

What I liked:
My favourite type of book where most of the book is hearts and flowers and then a little drama thrown in at the end. There was just enough plot to keep the story going and engaging. The writing style was easy to read and of course a nice ending with an idea of who will feature in the next book in the series.

Overall
Rating: 4 stars
Hero: caveman
Heroine: likeable
Type: New Adult
Setting: college
Series: #1 Games series (standalone)
Ending: HEA
Recommend: Yes!

**thank you Emma Hart for the ARC**

Playing for Keeps by Emma Hart

The plot:
Aston and Megan have a one night stand. But it doesn't seem enough. They both eager for more yet the person that stands in their way is the overprotective caveman best friend, Braden. Similar to the first book, this was a great light read with a bit of drama and some hot scenes.

The characters:
Aston is known as a player but not all is what it looks like. Beneath his cocky personality is a boy with a terrible childhood. I just wanted to give him a big cuddle. Megan was a strong heroine. She went for what she wanted and I did feel like it wasn't Bradens place to dictate who she dates. I love the banter with everyone in this book either Aston with Megan, Aston with gramps or just the whole group.

Overall
Rating: 4 stars
Hero: cocky
Heroine: strong
Type: New Adult
Setting: college
Series: #2 Games series (standalone)
Ending: HEA
Recommend: Yes!

Out of Breathe by Rebecca Donovan

Finally:
I been waiting for this book for a whole year. After that cliffy in book 2 I needed Emma to have her HEA. Was it all I expected? I was expecting Emma to be lost, to find herself again, to love again and to just be happy. This was all that. It did end on a HEA but I can't help but feel that it is not their complete story like there maybe another book squeezed in after.

The story:
The book started off a direction I did not like at all. Emma is at college and everything you can associate with college you can bet Emma was apart of. Then about a third way in... We get DUAL POV!!!  It gave me some relief on who she was going to end up with but all the same I was biting my nails hoping for the right guy.

Overall
Rating: 4 stars
Hero: very forgiving
Heroine: broken, broken, broken
Type: Young Adult
Setting: college
Series: #3 breathing series
Ending: HEA (but wanted more)
Recommend: Yes!
